LESSON LEARNED:
Kung magdedecide ka lang din na bumili ng patron ticket, magdecide at bumili ka na ng mas maaga kasi sa dulo ka din mapupunta otherwise.
No front act for the band. Sila agad. They started at 8:30 yata with the song You Won't Feel a Thing with Mark Sheehan and his guitar on the spotlight. Followed by Glen Power and his drums. And then there was Danny... with the traditional jacket (if not a vest) and his oversized pants. Who cares! Every guy is allowed to wear oversized pants and he's still sexy in every girls' and gays' eyes :) Everybody went crazy since the hand beatin' like a heart on the monitor/screen. What more when the band showed up. It was a complete pandemonium haha!
They did play one of my favorites from the second album which also happens to be the title of the album, Science and Faith. It was, for me, one of the most clever songs ever written. Comparing love with sience? No field of science can ever explain L-O-V-E.
The band continued playing and the crowd continued singing as if every song was a big hit on every radio station. It was one of the loudest crowds I've ever heard especially when they sang The Man Who Can't Be Moved. It was a magical moment when Danny let us sing the song, acapella version. It's like every person knows every word to the song. Our voices echoed inside the Big Dome and I've never felt so proud of singing until the band applauded us for both amazement and disbelief. I even remember Danny saying, "hearing you guys sing 'I'm not moving' make all the hair on the back of my neck stand up". Even Glenn couldn't say anything so he just clapped and clapped and clapped. Danny made the shoulder and hand gesture like "well, what can I say?" Ahhhh, I won't forget that moment.
And then it was followed by a song which, according to Danny, was written at three o'clock in the morning and he was drunk. It was one of my favorite songs from their first album, I'm Yours. You can completely hear the quality of his voice from that song with him just playing the guitar. Acoustic it is. It's not lacking. He didn't overdo it. Just perfect emotions.
They also played another favorite, Nothing, which Mark introduced by telling a story which happens all the time when someone gets drunk and then dials people's number from their phone, texting, tweeting, posting status on facebook and acknowledged Danny as the King of Drunk Dialling. I guess it's one of their scripts which I guess is also true.
They say they like tweeting so they capture a 'twitpic' of us which was later posted to their twitter and facebook account by Mark that says, "Pic was a blur but the crowd was unreal! Big love Manila." You know you (The Script) can always come back here and take a perfect picture of us :)
Their last song before the encore was Rusty Halo. I never thought that this song could be enjoyable when played live until that night. Danny was all over the place and my favorite moment was when he accidentally dropped the mic to the audience. He just let the people in front sing until somebody from the crowd handed him back the mic. And the song ended and they left. Everybody knows it wasn't over so we started chanting "we want more, we want more" and then a couple of minutes passed and they still don't show up and the lights are still off. We then chanted "break-e-ven, break-e-ven". The spotlight came and Danny was there in the middle with his keyboard, jacket off, head bowed down and the line ♪♫♪ she's all laid up in bed with her broken heart ♪♫♪ and again, everybody went gaga! Dude, that was it! The night is perfect! I couldn't be any happier. Danny couldn't get any sexier haha!
Our wishes were all granted when they sang Breakeven as their final song. I tried to record a video but my memory card went full. I tried using my phone but then I thought, I just want to enjoy this moment. I can always play the video on my mind plus the presence of Youtube is always helpful.
After the song, a round of applause was offered to everybody, ours for them and them for us. You can tell that both parties were very pleased. Then the band held hands and took their bows in front of us. That was the best almost-2-hours of my concert-going-life. You can't hear anything but "AWESOME " from the volume of people inching their way out of Araneta. They played 15 songs all in all. It was a bit short but I definitely enjoyed every moment.
Here's the complete setlist:
You Won't Feel a Thing
Talk You Down

If You Ever Come Back
Before the Worst
If You See Kay
The End Where I Begin
Science and Faith
The Man Who Can't Be Moved
I'm Yours
Nothing
Dead Man Walking

ENCORE:
For the First Time
Breakeven
I was hoping for them to play Long Gone and Moved On and Exit Wounds. Great songs. Maybe next time when they come back. I'll leave the door on the latch if they ever come back. There'll be a light on the hall and a key under the mat if they ever come back.
This is the best concert I've ever been to just yet. I'll buy the VIP ticket, I swear, if they ever come back. I don't care if I'm going solo again. I'll have no fear of having someone beside me menacing to disown me as a friend when I get as crazy as I can. I can scream my lungs out. I can sing my heart out.
Who do I want to see next? Hmmmm! The Script ulit! Haha! Seriously, I want to see Lifehouse's concert because I remember when asked which was the best crowd, I think it was Bryce who answered that every crowd was great "but the Philipines, that was crazy!" I want to taste that Lifehouse-crazy feeling. Plus I love them too.
