Hiding Place

WELCOME TO MY THOUGHT CORNER!

This is my personal "hiding place" where I can talk about my feelings and thoughts freely; the perfect corner where I can give life to my daydreams and complain about my reality; an escape to share my kind of crazy and keep my sanity. I love words that rhyme and that is not a crime. This is a mixture of darkness, butterflies and confetti. If you're still reading this then it's working so go ahead and enjoy the rest of it. - C

Music Fest 2010

I’ve been a fan of American Idol since Season 3 with Fantasia Barrino, Diana DeGarmo and Jasmine Trias as the final 3. But I am not a Jasmine Trias fan just to clear things up. I am a Filipino and I am proud of her but I am not really impressed with her singing voice. In fact, I was rooting for Camile Velasco, another Filipino (half Filipino, one-fourth Irish and one-fourth Spanish) with low, sexy, and deep voice. Raspy voice as they like to call it. But she got eliminated in the top 8 if I remember it right. Okay, I realize I have been reminiscing too much when I’m supposed to talk about Season 8 and Kris Allen.

I haven’t been able to catch an episode of Season 8 since I am always stuck in the office during its air time and I wasn’t yet introduced to downloading a video during that time. Luckily, I was able to catch the Top 3 episode (performance night) while I was having dinner at the office pantry. I saw Kris performed an acoustic version of Heartless which was originally sung by Kanye West and right then and there, I thought I was in love with him. Then I found out that he sang it just like The Fray did but it didn’t lessen the love haha! I was so proud when he won the title over Adam Lambert who can hit a note like Mariah alternative-rock style.

So when I found out that Kris is coming over to the Philippines, I promised that I have to be there. Maybe not in the front row but I have to be there. So I dragged a friend who is so willing to come without the dragging part J We were so excited that we were already in Taguig by 4pm with the concert starting at 8pm. Well, also to avoid anything like that with the two Davids’ concert. Since we were there way too early, we decided to wander around Market! Market! Look around and eat. Then we took off to Bonifacio High Street Concert Grounds. Stupid! That ain’t the place to be! That dumb driver! Good thing the second cab driver knows where the McKninley Hill is. We were a bit early but the crowd is already growing.

The music fest started and the first performer was Boyce Avenue. The good thing about the venue is that the farthest section is elevated so we can see the action unlike in Mall of Asia concert grounds where you have to tip toe or jump or whatever it is that you can do to see the performance on stage.

I am not really a fan of remakes and re-doing a song so I wasn’t into the Boyce Avenue thing. But I guess a lot of Filipinos like them. They wouldn’t be coming over and over if there is nobody inviting them. I believe they’ve been here three times already. In fact I heard one of them say that Manila has become his addiction right before they sang Ne-Yo’s Because of You. Perhaps that’s part of the script. After a few songs, oh was it really few? Anyways, they have to leave the stage and give it to the next performer. Next please! Haha! That is so rude of me! I’m sorry.

Next performer, Jabbawockeez! I LOVE JABBAWOCKEEZ! They didn’t just take over the stage, they owned it. I enjoyed every bit of their performance. I was dope! I was like,Wow! Wow! And Wow! I was hypnotized. Enough said.

And then there was him, Kris Allen of course - the reason why I went to see the concert. I almost forgot. Damn Jabbawockeez! Haha! Thank you, Lord for that wonderful and awesome experience. He may talk like a boozer but he still is hot. I love it when he said, “I like it here. The weather makes you sweat.” Come on Kris, just say that it’s hot in the Philippines ‘cause it really is.

Good thing I have his album so I know most of the songs and I enjoyed his performance ‘cause I know a lot didn’t. I am aware that most people in the crowd didn’t come for him. In fact, some were cheering for Adam while Kris was singing upstage. How rude was that!?

Kris went down to invite some of the audience to join him and sing Alright with Me. The ladies went crazy and took a lot of pictures with Kris and didn’t want to go back. Kris was like, “Okay, as much as I want to have a picture with you but I have a show to finish.” Enough ladies! You’re lucky enough. Let him finish the show. My feet are hurting because I’ve been standing and a few times jumping for four long hours.

Just like every song has to end, the show was over. We have to go back to reality and I have to find my way to bed because I feel so tired. Too bad the taxis are not enough for the entire music fest crowd. We only got to hire a cab at 2am. So uncool! That’s two hours of waiting. #UNCOOL! -C
